Transforming the Gap between Physical Therapy & WellnessAn Integrative Approach
This program teaches Physical Therapists how to incorporate wellness and integrative medicine services into their business to provide a holistic approach to care. The present gap in integration exists due to the antiquated philosophy of the need for referrals to physical therapy by MD’s and other healthcare practitioners rather than a two-way referral system between PTs and the “medical” world. This approach begins with Direct Access Physical Therapy and the need for more comprehensive evaluations of neuro-musculo-skeletal issues and the physiological effects that deter healing due to poor nutrition and endocrine function. The gap continues as PT’s tend to hold fear of traveling “outside of the box” in belief that numerous wellness services are not included in our practice act. Utilizing an integrative approach will allow for more efficient and effective care leading to decreased use of healthcare dollars (to assist with declining reimbursement) while it increases the willingness of clients to pay cash for certain services with an overall positive effect of an improved bottom line. |
