I have a book with yellowing pages that I have read off and on since Feb 27, 1998. How do I know this date? "Journey to the Heart", by Melody Beattie was inscribed on that day by the person who gave me the book. She knew that I was working through some wounds to begin to "See" myself for who I am and thought that the messages may help. It is a book of Daily Meditations that I sometimes read most days of the year and others, maybe just a few days. Guess what? I felt called to it today and read a message with the title, "Delight in Yourself"! I will share this message in a bit.
For now, do you ever take the necessary time to "Delight in Yourself"? WOW, that is a big question! What does this mean? Do I take myself on vacation or decide to have a "Staycation", take a long bath, say "I love you" as I look in the mirror, or allow my self to rest? Do I just believe that every part of my mind, body and spirit is simply "good" right where they all exist? Do I stop judging myself for what I think, feel or how I look? Hmmm....Am I really a GEM of God?
If any of these questions hit you in the gut, know that you have company because my gut feels adequately "tapped"! I am grateful for the guidance that led me to this book today because I know that we all need a "tap" most days to remember to "Delight" in who we are!
"Delight in Yourself"
Stop picking on yourself, worrying if you're good enough, wondering what people will see if you let them see your heart. This is what they'll see: that you are a lovable and delightful soul, a beautiful child of God.
Be yourself and accept yourself - warts, waistline and all. You don't have to sit up that straight, be that proper, or fear what others may see. Let your imperfections show! Share them! Love yourself anyway! Relax, and be who you are! When you do that, your life will be fun and a joyful gift to others.
People who comfortably accept who they are - both their flaws and their good points - are healing, delightful, and fun to be around. Look at any work of nature: a canyon, a flower, a bird. A mountain or a forest trail. Where does the perfection begin and imperfection end? It's the combination that makes a perfect scene. So it is with you.
Relax. Lighten up. Let go of shame and fear. The whole picture is perfect and perfectly okay!
Melody Beattie, July 15
I have included the statement, "Choose Love over Fear" many times in these offerings. It comes from a series of books that I read about 20 years ago called "Conversations with God". These books truly made a major impact on my journey and helped me to choose Love for myself over Fear on many occasions. I credit this valuable lesson in choice as one of the reasons why Balance For Wellness, Inc (now Fyzical Therapy & Wellness Centers) and Dr Lorri Health/BFW Academy, Inc exist today. Do I always choose Love over Fear when it comes to thoughts and images of myself? NO, I Do Not !! But I can assure you that I continue to work on this practice daily.
So, my friends, I see the DeLight in You and that brings me Joy!
Let's continue together, to practice seeing the Delight in Ourselves daily. If we can do this "most" of the time, we will enhance the vibration in this world and create lasting change!
Thank-you for your support for these blogs, my businesses and me... my Gratitude knows no boundaries :)
